Out of the 80 participating team, 30 teams were short listed for the Smart India Hackathon 2023 (SIH-23)

Meghnad Saha Institute of Technology, a renowned engineering college in West Bengal with a rich 23 years history of Technical Education, Innovation and R&D organised the Internal Hackathon for the nationwide Innovation Competition “Smart India Hackathon 2023 (SIH-23)”. This event was organised jointly by the Institution Innovation Council of Meghnad Saha Institute of Technology (IIC-MSIT) and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the Institute.

This Mega Innovation Competition was a grand success which saw 80 teams, 480 student participants, 45 faculty mentors and 9 eminent Jury from Industry and academia & research institutions participated on 21st September 2023. Shortlisted teams, post the Internal hackathon, will participate in SIH-2023, that'll be organised by the Ministry Of Education’s Innovation cell, Ministry of Education, AICTE.

The inauguration session was enlightened by the speech of the chief guest of this event, Prof.Dr. Anupam Basu, Raja Ramanna Chair Professor, Jadavpur University & Former Director NIT Durgapur.

Prof.Dr.Tirthankar Datta, Principal, Meghnad Saha Institute of Technology

said "the Institute has a rich history in the area of innovation & research and has won several prizes at National level events like Smart India Hackathon, Texas Instruments Innovation Challenge etc".

He highlighted that two teams were winners in the Grand Finale of SIH-2022 and stated that "Our students were runner up in Texas Instruments Innovation Challenge, 2015 with a prize money of USD 5000 & students also won prizes in other editions of SIH".

Prof.Dr. Sudip Dogra, President, IIC-MSIT & Coordinator of Internal Hackathon, SIH 2023 encouraged & congratulated the students for their active participation.

Dr. Sukhendu Jana , SPOC of Internal Hackathon, SIH 2023 highlighted the support of the organising committee for successful execution of the event.

Prof. Aliv Banerjee, Convener, Internal Hackathon, SIH 2023, Prof. Debarshi Ghosh, Treasurer, Internal Hackathon, SIH 2023, along with all the members & coordinators of Internal Hackathon, SIH 2023 played a pivotal role in the success of the event.

The eminent jury members for the event consisted of exceptional personalities in their own field.
