IIT Mandi and AIIMS Bilaspur plan to have short-term joint academic programmes in future, so that researchers and students can visit bth institutes and work collaboratively

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi has entered into a partnership with All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS), Bilaspur to conduct joint research and academic exchange activities.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the two institutes at a meeting attended by IIT Mandi director Ajit Chaturvedi, AIIMS Bilaspur director Vir Singh Negi, IIT Mandi dean (SRIC) Venkata Krishnan, AIIMS Bilaspur deputy medical superintendent Vikrant Kanwar and some faculty members from IIT Mandi.

With this MoU, both the institutes plan to work on joint research projects and involve in short-term joint academic programmes in the future, providing researchers and students an opportunity to visit and work collaboratively with the other institute.

Speaking about the partnership, Chaturvedi said, “Through the collaboration between IIT Mandi and AIIMS Bilaspur, we are looking forward to jointly work and excel in the field of medical sciences for the betterment of society at large.”

Other key initiatives of the MoU include:

● Joint international conference, workshop and seminar of medical and public health

● Exchange of information on teaching and other literature relevant to educational and research programmes

● To link both sides of the medical industry, device and equipment, based on mutual agreements, and in accordance with existing laws

The joint research and academic collaboration activities under this MoU will cater to various domains related to medical science and technology, including Medical Imaging, Digital Pathology, Point-of-care Testing Devices, Bioinformatics, Endocrinology, Biomaterials and Telemedicine among others.

During the MoU signing event at IIT Mandi, the two institutions also discussed the future scope of translation of technology in collaboration with industry partners to ensure that the benefits of the research reach the society at large.
