The Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad (IIT-H) signed an MoU with Sri Visweswara Yoga Research Institute (SVYRI) to launch the Mahayogini Rajyalakshmi Devi (MRD) Heritage Research fellowships for PhD in heritage science and technology.

Applications are open year-round but will be processed 2 times a year. Students with strong academics in various disciplines will be selected through a rigorous process. Candidates can get additional information by writing an email to office@hst.iith.ac.in

B.S. Murty, Director of IIT-H said, “Robust, empirically quantifiable research in the frontier areas of heritage assets will create strong commercial interest in Indic resources such as ayurveda, yoga etc. It is important to perform research of the highest quality and publish in well-regarded fora, and IIT-H will strive to create a benchmark in the area of heritage research.”

Eligibility for PhD research fellowship:

  • Candidates must possess MTech./ME/MSc (Engineering/Technology) degree in the respective or allied areas or have a BTech. degree or MSc in allied areas.
  • Must also have a valid GATE score

The MRD scholars will get an enhanced fellowship of Rs 75,000 per month. Having the fellowship, candidates will also get travel expenses to an international conference to present results in relevant disciplines.

The proposed research will be in any area of Science and Technology, as applied to intangible or tangible Indic heritage, such as yoga, ayurveda, music, dance, language, arts, architecture or sculpture at the Department of Heritage Science and Technology (HST) at IITH.
