The themes this year are International Women’s Day, World Storytelling Day and World Poetry Day

Sunday Classics Organisation, a not-for-profit group aimed at spreading art, entertainment and education, is back with a new edition of Cascade after a successful debut in 2021.

Cascade 2022 will be held in two phases — a go-as-you-like for youngsters to showcase their creative mettle in Phase 1 to be held at Sparsh Studio of Performing Arts, Esplanade, from noon onwards on March 6. Phase 2 of Cascade 2022 will be held on March 20 at Oxford Bookstore, Park Street.

“The response to the first edition of Cascade held last year was overwhelming. Towards the end of the event, we had people asking us when would we host the second edition. The first phase of this year’s event celebrates International Women's Day, while the second phase is on World Storytelling Day and World Poetry Day,” said Sinchani Dutta, who co-founded Sunday Classics Organisation, along with Hrittik Ghosh. Both are diploma students in Mass Communication and Public Relations at St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata.

Registration for Phase I is open to all students. From instrumental to vocals, stand-up comedy to storytelling, poetry to self-defence, participants are welcome to perform their talent. English, Hindi and Bengali are the accepted languages of communication. Participants will be given five minutes to showcase their talent.

Phase 2 will be in tune with World Storytelling and World Poetry Day. Participants can ideate and perform original stories and poems. Special guests for the event include Jimmy Tangree, radio jockey; Biswanath Dasgupta, creative director at TTIS (The Telegraph in Schools) and Rajika Mazumder, co-director, Dev Sahitya Kutir.

Sunday Classics Organisation, founded in 2020, has organised events like Cascade 2021, Sharodified 2020 and 2021, Quizzingly Yours 2020 and 2022. The core team consists of young, creative, dynamic and ready-to-learn youngsters who are always on their toes, curating events and activities for the youth.

Registration for Cascade 2022 Phase I is open till March 5 midnight and Phase II till March 19 midnight. The registration for Phase II will begin after the Phase I event is over.
