The Felicitation Ceremony for ICSE and ISC toppers and one-pointers of 2023 was organised by St. Augustine’s Day School, Barrackpore at Ichapur, from 5 o’clock in the evening. The endeavour was enlightened by prayer and by the presence of all members of a milestone journey – the achievers, the parents and the teachers.

The mood was lifted with the remembrance of late Mr. C.R. Gasper, the founder of St. Augustine’s Day School. Mrs. J. Biswas, the Principal showered petals on his picture which was followed by “Wavin’ Flag” and “Jai Ho! “ in the melodious voice of the choir that set the tone of the programme.

Soon after, the felicitation of one-pointers from the ICSE batch started and the excited and expectant faces shone brightly on the stage. Ankita Karmakar was brought up on the stage with her mother to receive the appreciation as 2023’s ICSE topper.

The “endless number of candidates” was all the more justified when the song “Unstoppable” was performed by Adrija Ghosh and Aishee Sengupta – “I’m Unstoppable, I’m a Porsche with no brakes”.

The Chief Guest, Dr. Kunal Sarkar, Vice Chancellor made his presence on the stage and left with a few words which served as woods to spiritual fire.

Felicitation of ISC one-pointers started next followed by the guest of honour, felicitation and speech of Mr. Sandipan Sarbagna an alumnus of Jadavpur University and a crucial link between education and civil administration of North 24 Parganas who said, “There’s always a dialect that works in our mind in every sphere of life and this dialect boosts and advances us to the next step” – an inspiration to look up to. Very soon the toppers rose up – the school toppers, Saptarshi Mandal and Sruti Rajak, the commerce stream toppers, Ritam Ghosh and Ronit Ghosh.

On 23 June 2023, St. Augustine's Day School, Shyamnagar organised the “ICSE and ISC Toppers Felicitation Ceremony '’ at Bikas Basu Smrity Convention Center, Noapara.

The occasion was graced by Dr. Chandrani Biswas, the Associate Professor, English Department, St. Xavier’s University, Autonomous, as the Chief Guest, Mr. Amitava Chowdhury, CEO, St.Augustine Education Society, Ms. Jhuma Biswas (Principal of SADS, Barrackpore) and other eminent dignitaries.

64 students were felicitated under different categories, for different achievements, but for one cause, and that is to honour their exemplary coup.

Out of the 64 students, who were felicitated on that day, 37 students scored 90% and above in the I.C.S.E. examination and 24 students in the I.S.C. examination. Krishnendu Bakshi topped the I.S.C examination scoring 97.5% from the science stream and Anushka Chowdhury, the I.C.S. E topper scored 99%, who also secured the 5th position in the I.C.S.E examination at the state level. They were awarded a token amount of fifteen thousand and twenty-five thousand respectively.

Few other students were specially awarded for different categories. Aaryan Singh had cracked the NDA exam, while Sanket Agarwal got through with the IIT Kharagpur. Other students such as Adrrija Kar received awards for impeccable achievement by winning 7 gold

medals in the Olympiads and securing second position in the ICSE school ranking, Aadi Karmakar received the award for bagging the first prize in National Level Yoga Championship, under the Government of India, organized by CISCE, and Srijita Karmakar received the award for her excellence in the field of Creative Art and English Literature.
