'Sanskritotsav:2023': Vidya Bharati Chinmaya Vidyalaya attempts to revive rich Indian Culture

Vidya Bharati Chinmaya Vidyalaya celebrated the ancient and revered language, Sanskrit, with an inter-school competition 'Sanskritotsav:2023' on August 19, 2023. This Sanskrit festival was a sincere attempt to revive the rich language which has adorned Indian Culture and made its mark even in the global arena. 110 students from 8 reputed schools participated across the various events of the programme.

The event began with a lighting of the lamp, which was followed by the Vandana dance. This was followed by the Principal, Mrs Meena Wilkhu’s address, where she praised the participating students for their zeal and enthusiasm. The rest of the day saw different competitions scheduled around the Vidyalaya campus. Students were evaluated by a jury comprising eminent personalities associated with the language. The founder teacher of the school, Mrs Sheela Srivastava was also present on the special occasion, to inspire the pupils with her knowledge and experience of Sanskrit. The credit for the excellent organisation of the event goes to Mrs Suchitra Singh, head of the Sanskrit Department.

In the words of Mrs. Wilkhu, Sanskrit is often referred to as "Devbhasha”, a sublime lingua of the learned, and a custodian of Indian culture and heritage. It is the utmost responsibility of every Indian and especially the youth to sustain and propagate the knowledge and use of the Sanskrit language. Vidya Bharati Chinmaya Vidyalaya, a school with a difference, truly believes that their sincere endeavor will once again open up the doors of pure knowledge and learning with this lighting of the lamp of enlightenment, illuminating the glory of Indian literature.

• Nitishlokocharanam - NML Kerala Public School
• Sanskrit Speeches - Govind Vidyalaya

Other participating schools who were runners up in various competitions were AIWC Academy of Excellence and Shiksha Niketan School. NML Kerala Public School emerged as the overall champion while Shiksha Niketan School was declared the runner-up of the overall championship.
