Royal Global University, Guwahati organised the East Zone Inter-University Table Tennis (Men/Women) Tournament 2023-24 under the aegis of Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and the men's tournament took place from December 1 to December 4, 2023 while the women’s tournament will take place from December 7 to December 10.

The event witnessed the presence of Kausar Jamil Hilaly, IAS, Secretary, Sports and Youth Welfare as the Chief Guest while Rituraj Bora, IAS, Secretary, Cooperation Department and Managing Director Housefed was present as the Guest of Honour.

A total of 49 universities are participating in the tournament.

Speaking on the occasion, Hilaly lauded the efforts of Royal Global University in promoting sporting activities and contributing in shaping the personality of students but also impacting their academic performance.

Welcoming the 49 teams to the tournament, Prof Dr SP Singh, the Vice Chancellor of Royal Global University emphasised on the blending of sports and academics as it leads to a holistic development of students. He also highlighted how fairplay has been the benchmark of Royal Global University in all sporting events which are integral to sports.

The first match on the inaugural day was played between National Sports University, Manipur and University of Calcutta, where the latter emerged as the winner. In the second match, played between Manipur University and SNPV Chhattisgarh, Manipur University own the match while between Sikkim University and University of Calcutta, University of calcutta emerged as the winners.
