Analytics Society of India, Kolkata Chapter, presented a two-day conference on 28 and 29 of April at CII, Salt Lake, Kolkata, under the aegis of NSHM Knowledge Campus and Bhawanipore Education Society College. The event was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Mr. Rajeev Kumar, Principal Secretary of Information Technology and Electronics, West Bengal. The conference chairs, Prof Dinesh Kumar, IIM Bangalore, Prof Indranil Bose, IIM Ahmedabad, Mr. Ambarish Dasgupta, Senior Partner, Intueri Consulting LLP, Mr. Cecil Antony, Chief Mentor, NSHM Knowledge Campus and Dr. Suparna Dhar, the Chief Convener of the conference, were among the other dignitaries present during the occasion.

“The conference's goal is to foster collaboration between business and academics, where research meets industry”, added Mr. Cecil Antony, Chief mentor, NSHM Knowledge Campus. More than 40 eminent speakers from industry and academia enlightened the audience over the 2 days. Representatives from IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta, ISI, IIT Delhi, Liverpool Business School, IIEST, Jadavpur University, Calcutta University, IISER, IIFT, Amazon, Google, IBM, Wipro, TCS, RS Software, Business Brio, PwC, LnT, Adani group, Intueri Consulting, Achievex Solutions, Ingram Micro, Ananda Bazaar Patrika, NASSCOM, Neuropixel.ai, Kolkata Police, and the Information Technology Department were among the speakers. The discussions spanned different aspects of analytics, right from the fundamental statistical theories that analytics stands on, to the technological aspects of data management, and analysis, and applications of analytics across industry sectors. The closing ceremony was graced by Mr. Sanjay Das, Joint Secretary, Information Technology & Electronics.

This conference marked the beginning of an analytics culture in the region. 300+ participants, enriching discussions and encouraging quality research generated many ideas and most importantly ignited minds. “The conference was aimed to motivate students and young scholars to engage in quality research and impactful projects in analytics that will help build a strong analytics ecosystem in the region”, said Prof Dinesh Kumar, IIM Bangalore

Scholars and practitioners presented research papers. The abstracts have been published in a book of abstracts with an ISBN number 978-93-5895-845-4. Selected papers will be published in Communications in Computer and Information Science (CCIS) by Springer, indexed in SCOPUS, SC Imago, DBLP, JST, etc.
