She was always curious about the universe, her never-ending barrage of questions were always answered by science, and it still is. In other words, science stoked and still continues to pique her interest. Our young achiever of the day is an ardent science lover, whose love for the subject propelled her to secure the 2nd rank at the National Science Olympiad. Adwitiya Roy, a class 6 student from South Point High School, Kolkata says, “Science helps me to understand the reason behind most of the things happening around us in our day to day lives. I get the answer for many WHY questions in me”.
As a young student it is often difficult to consider that the future rests on our shoulders. However, it is in the years to come that these developing minds will be in a position to shift the course of history and transform people's lives. “My school encouraged all of us to take part in the SOF Olympiads and each of my teachers worked on clearing my doubts whenever required. In the near future I want to go for Medical Sciences and be a doctor to serve humanity” added Adwitiya.

Regardless of who one is or where they are coming from, science is for each one. Unlike many of her peers, Adwitiya enjoys challenges and coming up with fresh approaches to issues and investigating novel concepts. She believes science allows her to be more creative and improves her critical thinking abilities. “I Studied from NCERT Science books referred by my school, along with books referred by others. The online mock tests from SOF trainers also helped me a lot to excel in this exam,” said Adwitiya.

While her interest in matters concerning the cosmos got her started along the path - securing the second position took a little bit more than mere interest and curiosity. Adwitiya says, “Problems related to electrical circuits – series and parallel were some of the important questions asked in the exam. However, I also studied every chapter in detail from the Prep Guide and chapters related to logical reasoning to prepare for the exams”.
