In response to the escalating environmental issues confronting the global community, COMPOSIT’24 (Congress of Metallurgical Professionals involving Students, Industry, and Teachers) unveiled its 29th edition scheduled for March 29 - 31, 2024.

This is an annual fest conducted by the Society of Metallurgical Engineers(SME) at the esteemed IIT Kharagpur. As the world is moving towards sustainable development, COMPOSIT brings the point into the limelight with this year’s theme ‘Molten Ideas, Sustainable Realities’.

This upcoming event serves as a platform for students, faculty, and professionals to showcase their skills, knowledge, and innovations in metallurgy and materials engineering.

This year, the fest is set to host six exciting events with a wide range of interests and skills:

Open to all college students, The First round of some of these events is hosted on the Online Platform “Unstop”, where students must fill out the registration form beforehand. Subsequent rounds take place on the IIT Kharagpur campus, offering students a unique opportunity to explore the lush green campus of IIT Kharagpur and win exciting prizes.

Engaging in these events allows participants to establish connections with some of the most brilliant minds in academia, industry professionals, and fellow students nationwide likewise in the previous editions of COMPOSIT there were speakers like Anusheela Das from NASA, esteemed Professor Aloke Paul from IISc Bangalore, and Industry experts, Kavia Anand, and Sant Swaroop Sharma. The assortment of workshops, seminars, and competitions is designed to elevate participants' proficiency in diverse domains. COMPOSIT acts as a talent hub, uniting individuals to celebrate their shared enthusiasm for Metallurgy and Materials Science. Involvement in team-oriented activities and presentations fosters crucial soft skills such as communication, leadership, and teamwork, enabling participants to evolve into versatile individuals and adept collaborators.
