Delhi Public School Ruby Park hosted the 5th edition of its flagship event, the International Relations Conference 2023 on Saturday, August 26, 2023. The theme for this year was ‘Sustainable Development: Proposing Innovative Solutions’.

The programme was graced by luminaries like Dr. Samrat Roy, Head of the Department of Economics at St.Xavier’s College who has more than 20 years of teaching and research under his belt in International Economics and Applied Macro econometrics and Mr. S.V. Raman, present Programme Consultant to Victoria Memorial Hall, President of Cine Academy, Indo-German Association and Chairperson of The Creative Arts Academy along with being a mentor in public speaking, communication, journalism, film and German and a practicing freelance journalist, translator and interpreter. Ms. Sushmita Sengupta, examiner for both ICSE and ISC with an illustrious English teaching career spanning from 1980 to 2016 graced the occasion along with Dr. Manjari Chattopadhyay, assistant professor with the Faculty of Economics at Chandrapur College. The event also witnessed Dr. Soma Sen who was an Assistant Lecturer and Senior Research Associate both at New York State University and at Strasbourg University and at present, a PhD Research Guide to graduate students in English Literature.

The events were also adjudged by Mr. Atanu Basu, Chief of Inland Waterways & Multimodal Logistics at TM International Logistics Ltd and a professionally Qualified Member of ICS (MICS), a business leader and visionary along with being a member of the ESG sub-committee for the Confederation of Indian Industry, Eastern Region, and engaged in various philanthropic activities through CSR programs & NGOs. The final guest of honour was Mr. Raj Kalyan Roy, founder of his label UD Series in 1991 and producer of the Bengali feature film called “Tritiyo Purush ".

The school proudly welcomed back three of its ex-students Sagnik Sarkar, Ayush S. Shankar and Scarlet Sen who were present to moderate, guide and cheer their juniors on in all their endeavours.

The day’s program was flagged off by a solemn video which highlighted the stark reality of the world and the need of the hour for sustainability. The lighting of the lamp and rendition of Sunny by Boney M by the school choir was followed by inaugural address by Principal Ma’am. The speech delivered by guest of honour, Dr. Samrat Roy garnered much applause and finally the meet was declared open by co-president Anvita Mahajan.

The flagship event of the International Relations Conference was a paper presentation which gave young minds a rostrum to put forward their perspectives, their suggestions and their solutions. The day’s events also included debate, business events, vlogging, skit and artistic representations on topics related to sustainability.

At a time marked by increasing population, dwindling natural resources, and environmental challenges, the concept of sustainable development has emerged as a beacon of hope for creating a harmonious and resilient future and the day’s events enriched and motivated everyone to turn visions into valuable plans of action.

The earnest efforts were rewarded in the prize distribution ceremony.

In the concluding speech, co-president Samriddha Nandi lauded the spirit of participation and the lasting memories that the conference would leave behind, drawing the eventful day to a close.
