Drama underlined the setting and the collection that Gaurav Gupta kick-started theLakme Fashion Week with. The play of construction was the highlight at the show held at The Royal Opera House, Mumbai. Tabu walked the ramp in a slate-grey gown.
Edgy yet classic was Kunal Rawal’s man at LFW. Structure, layering, well-tailored, the man in polka, the one who wears handloom hoodies… Rawal’s Future Past 2019 celebrated him. Aditya Roy Kapoor walked in a textured jacket, waistcoat and slim pants.
In December, Shivan Bhatiya and Narresh Kukreja had told t2 about their next collection exploring the Bengali patachitra. On the LFW ramp, the art came alive in all its vibrancy with a dash of drama and sensuousness. The leather puppetry of Andhra Pradesh was also an inspiration for the flowy dresses, cutaways, sheer, the S&N sari and lehnga. Vaani Kapoor in ruffles was one super sensuous frame.
Gorgeous ivories with a touch of gold and rose, the signature lotus, the stunning black, geometry, dramatic blooms… Rohit Bal’s Guldastah had the art and craft of Kashmir at its heart. Sunflower, poppy, tulip and peonies came to life on cotton, silk blends, Chanderis, silk organzas, silks and velvets, kurtas, jackets, capes, kurtis, maxi skirts, anarkalis….
Crisp florals, a pastel palette and easy, breezy silhouettes was Anita Dongre’s 'A Summer Reverie', her spring summer ’19 line. Yellow, apricot, seafoam, surf blue, onion pink and blush, pista green, lavender came alive on lehngas, maxi dresses, jumpsuits, crop tops and skirts.
Anavila Misra showcased a host of droolworthy drapes and tunics, kaftans, maxis and roomy pants. Flowy silhouettes, blues, whites, pastels, peach, leaf green, indigo, charcoal, a hint of metallic… the collection in cotton, linen and silk was easy on the eye.
Dangal girl Sanya Malhotra walked in Narendra Kumar Ahmed’s athleisure collection. Nari put tees, joggers, bombers, blazers, jackets and leggings on the LFW ramp.
Manikarnika star Kangana Ranaut looked regal in a lehnga with a crystal choli from Anushree Reddy’s Atirah. Teal, green, beige and pastels were combined with embroidery on gowns and lehngas. Pictures: Sandip Das
