Super awkward: In 2011, actor Hayden Panettiere was on the EMA stage to present the Best Song award to Lady Gaga. But in the middle of the introduction, a streaker showed up and was later identified as David Monahan from Belfast. Was it a gimmick? Well, no security guard showed up to take Monahan away.

Meaty Affair: Lady Gaga is not the only one who has worn a meat dress in public... well, somewhat. During the 2010 edition, Eva Longoria played host and had 13 wardrobe changes. One of them involved faux Spanish ham and it was done in good humour to remind one of Gaga’s infamous meat dress. She said: “Lady Gaga couldn’t be here tonight but she left this dress in the refigerator backstage.”

Ride Or Fly: Grand entrances have been a big part of performances at the EMA. In 2000, Jennifer Lopez showed up in a plane and Travis appeared on a “flying bird” in 2017. Brendon Urie took things to another “level” as he “climbed down the walls” of a building in 2018 and then onto the stage. Yung Blud too was seen suspended mid-air during 2020 while he peformed his single Cotton Candy.

Redfoo Tease: If you’ve seen any LMFAO music video, you must have noticed their “minimalist” wardrobe. It was no surprise when Redfoo, while hosting the 2013 edition of the EMAs, stripped because he was “feeling hot”. “I’m feeling a little overdressed, it’s a little hot in here...,” he said and voila!

Big debut: In 2019, K-pop group NCT 127 performed for the very first time on the MTV EMA stage. Their performance was also the first time a K-pop group had performed on this stage. They sang Highway To Heaven while showing off their dance moves.
