TCS appears to have set a precedent for the technology titans by asking its workers to return to offices five days a week. It is now learnt that several frontline companies like Wipro, CapGemini and LTIMindtree are mulling their options and could ask their employees to return to work at least for three days a week.

None of them have come out with an official announcement yet but may be forced to abandon the work-from-home and the hybrid models at a time many of them are rebuilding their teams to deal with the challenge of slowing orders in the US and Europe amid mounting evidence of a slowdown in the global economy.

Reports suggest that several tech firms have started discussions to review the hybrid work model, particularly in the large offices in Bangalore and Pune.

While in most organisations, the existing model of 2-3 days a week still prevails, in certain projects with higher deal sizes, employees have been asked if they can come to office for more days, sources said.

“As a significant time has passed under the hybrid models, IT firms are now urging employees to come back to office,” said Kalyan Kar, vice-president Sector V Stakeholders Association.
