Hyundai MotorIndia Limited will have a dedicated battery electric vehicle platform called E-GMP (electric global modular platform)for India. Hyundai Ioniq 5 will be the first model to be introduced on this E-GMP platform and become the latest battery EV from the brand.

Unsoo Kim, managing director and CEO, HyundaiMotor India Ltd, said: “Our electric mobility campaign in India began in 2019 with the launch of India’s first electric SUV — Hyundai Kona Electric.

“We are now introducing the Electric Global ModularPlatform – E-GMP. With the introduction of E-GMP in India, we will be able to provide customers with advanced battery-electric vehicles, derived froma platform that is modular, scalable and versatile.”

Hyundai Motor Group globally showcased its E-GMPdedicated BEV platform for future electric vehicles, marking a new era for the brand.

Driving the pump-to-plug evolution, Hyundai will pioneer the development of future electric vehicles with this dedicated battery EV platform.

The E-GMP platform comprises vehicle chassis that includes battery, motor and power electric system.

The battery system features an advanced battery pack offering high range, while the bi-directional charging plug allows the high-voltage battery to power various electronic appliances.
