IndiGo reports net profit of Rs 188.9 crore for July-September quarter

Budget carrier IndiGo on Friday reported a net profit of Rs 188.9 crore for the three months ended September against a net loss of Rs 1,583.33 crore in the same period of the previous year.

InterGlobe Aviation, the parent of IndiGo, remained in the black for four straight quarters, boosted by higher traffic and increased capacity.

The July-September quarter is usually weak for Indian carriers with fewer flyers and lower fares, according to analysts. Still, IndiGo has benefited from troubles at smaller rivals Go First and SpiceJet.

IndiGo flew 23.3 million passengers, 33 per cent higher than a year earlier and marginally lower than the previous quarter, data from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation showed.

In the second quarter of the current fiscal, IndiGo’s total income jumped 20.6 per cent to Rs 15,502.9 crore. In the same period a year ago, the total income stood at Rs 12,852.3 crore.

Zomato back in black

Zomato has reported a consolidated profit after tax of Rs 36 crore for the second quarter ended September, driven by strong revenue growth. The company had reported a loss of Rs 251 crore for the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.

Revenue from operations was Rs 2,848 crore against Rs 1,661 crore a year ago.

Titan profit up 9.7%

Titan has reported an increase of 9.7 per cent in its consolidated net profit at Rs 916 crore in the September 2023 quarter, led by sales of jewellery in the domestic market. The company posted a net profit of Rs 835 crore a year ago.
