BMW Group, while announcing its FY22 results in Munich, recently said the main growth drivers in 2023 will be fully-electric (BEV) vehicles and models from the high-end premium segment — such as the new BMW 7 Series, the updated BMW X7 and the Rolls-Royce model family.

In this upper segment, the BMW Group expects growth in the mid-double-digit percentage range for the current financial year. Battery electric vehicles are likely to grow in the high double-digit percentage range.

In the past year, BMW Group more than doubled its BEV sales to over 215,000 units globally. “We are striving for further significant growth in fully-electric vehicles this year and expect them to account for 15 per cent of our total sales,” Oliver Zipse, chairman of the management board, BMW AG, said.

The company will launch the new BMW 5 Series, the fully-electric BMW i5, and the fully-electric BMW iX2 later in the year and the first fully-electric touring model will make its debut in the BMW 5 Series.

In 2022, the Audi Group again saw an increase of around 44 per cent in deliveries of fully electric cars(118,196 vehicles) and is systematically continuing its electrification strategy.

“With the Audi Q6 e-tron,e-mobility is coming from Ingolstadt for the first time,” says Audi AG CEO Markus Duesmann.

In 2022, Volkswagen increased sales of all-electric vehicles by 23.6 per cent year on year to around 330,000 units. By 2030, up to eight out of 10 Volkswagen cars sold in Europe will be battery electric vehicles.
