Toyota Kirloskar Motor, Kia Motors and BMW on Monday announced temporary suspension of production activities at their respective manufacturing facilities in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak in the country.

Hyundai Motor India, Renault and General Motors also decided to halt manufacturing.

Suzuki Motor Gujarat, which manufactures cars on a contract basis for Maruti Suzuki India, also announced the suspension of production at its Gujarat-based plant.

Among two-wheelers, TVS Motor Company said it has decided to halt all manufacturing operations in India and Indonesia till further notice. India Yamaha Motor said it has suspended manufacturing operations at its facilities till March 31, 2020.

India Cements has shut down its plants in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rajasthan and Maharashtra.

FMCG major Dabur India said it was suspending manufacturing across India, excluding essential items such as ayurvedic medicines and hand sanitisers.

Bengal units

Lead acid battery maker Exide Industries said its factories and offices will be under temporary shutdown in line with the lockdown directives of the local administration.

Titagarh Wagons also informed that its plant in Bengal has suspended operation. However, Keventer Agro, which is into the food business, will continue to operate as it provides essential items such as milk and banana.

Realtor Merlin Group said it would take care of the workers at the construction sites with ration and hygiene since everything will be locked down for next 10 days.

Patton Group has also closed down all its units in Bengal.
