The festival and marriage season pushed automobile retail sales up 26 per cent to 23.8 lakh units last month compared with 18.9 lakh units in November 2021, the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) said.

“November 2022 has clocked the highest retails in the history of the Indian automobile Industry with March’20 as an exception when retails were higher due to BS IV to BS VI transition,” FADA president Manish Raj Singhania said in a statement.

“Better availability of model mixes from the past months, launches and an increase in rural demand continues to keep the segment in healthy condition. The compact SUV and the SUV category, coupled with higher variant models, continues to rule the roost,” Singhania said.

The sales momentum continued even after the end of the festive period with the start of the wedding season, he added.
